This session will highlight how the US Army Corps of Engineers is investigating workflows to leverage digital twins for planning and decision support purposes. The PLANNER team is focused on streamlining installation and command level planning business processes by customizing a COTS solution. The second paper is determining how effectively light can be used to determine manufactured materials in the physical environment for use in a digital twin.

- Polarized Reflectance to Find Separability Between Manufactured MaterialsReflectance characteristics of manufactured materials vary when measured through different polarized states, which can be quantitatively described using Stokes vectors as measures of the directionality of light detected. This study measures the separability of different manufactured materials based on their total and polarized reflectance values in the Visible, Shortwave Infrared, and Longwave Infrared wavelengths of the electromagnetic spectrum. Results from statistical analyses indicate significant separability between material types based on their polarization characteristics.
