In a world increasingly impacted by human activities, GIS and Remote Sensing are vital tools. Education plays a key role in addressing these challenges, and web-based GPS data collection is growing in popularity for its user-friendly interface. In the online asynchronous "GPS Field Techniques" class, we used Esri’s tools like ArcGIS FieldMaps, ArcGIS Survey123, and ArcGIS QuickCapture to teach students industry-standard techniques for data collection, visualization, and analysis. This modern curriculum enhances learning, improves decision-making, and equips students to solve real-world issues efficiently.

This presentation outlines a graduate-level course that immerses students in ArcGIS Enterprise implementation using individualized virtual environments. The course takes students through the process of deploying the system’s core components: Portal for ArcGIS, ArcGIS Server, ArcGIS Data Store, and Web Adaptor. With each student independently managing an end-to-end setup, the course offers practical exposure to the architecture, installation, and configuration of ArcGIS Enterprise components—essential skills for those pursuing professional GIS roles.

Determining the “ideal” way to use an ArcGIS Dashboard for a project requires a delicate balance of vision, creativity, GIS prowess, and awareness of technological possibilities. Through successes (and failures!) on projects over the past four years, I have compiled a list of tips and tricks which help me create more understandable, approachable, and engaging ArcGIS Dashboards. During this presentation, I will describe some of these tips, as well as, detail a freely available online resource I created to help other GIS users discover, understand, and apply these approaches in their own work.

The UVM Spatial Analysis Lab (SAL) utilizes student employees to produce high-resolution land cover datasets. At a given time the lab employs between 15-30 part time employees, many of whom have little GIS experience. In order to get these employees up and running quickly and efficiently, and minimize potential mistakes, the SAL has developed workflows and procedures that “put up the lane bumpers” for these employees. This presentation with explore some of those “bumpers” that can be found in ArcGIS Pro and how they can be used to allow even the newest editors to produce high quality work.
